Allegedly Interlocking Sign Yemen, 2000 Weapons Seized from Ships Fishermen

More than 2,000 weapons, including assault rifles, rocket-propelled grenades and mortar tubes found hidden under nets aboard a small fishing boat heading to Somalia. Thousands of weapons were discovered by Australian Navy ship HMAS Darwin.
Lieutenant Ian McConnaughey, a spokesman for the US Navy Central Command told ABC News via email a team of Australian ship HMAS Darwin discovered the weapon was about 195 miles off the coast of Oman. US Navy believes the boat departed from Iran by Iranian crew.
McConnaughey said preliminary assessment weapons were planned to be brought to Yemen to be used by Houthi Shiite rebels backed by Iran in the civil war in that country.
The weapons were found fishing boat on February 27 but only announced on Monday.
Weapons seized under UN sanctions that prohibit illegal weapons deliveries to Somalia. They are expected to transfer detainees to the US for further analysis McConnaughey added.
According to a statement from the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian ship who found heaps part of Combined Task Force 150 - the anti-terror, piracy and smuggling operations whose membership includes the US, Canada, UK and others. Weapons were found among other 1989 AK-47 assault rifles, 100 rocket-propelled grenades, 49 PKM machine guns, 39 barrels of spare PKM and 20 mortar tubes.
Saudi Arabia said in October that they had intercepted another fishing boat loaded with arms that will be sent to the Houthis, according to Reuters.
